European Conference about Energy Education

19th – 20th April 2007

Cankarjev Dom - Cultural & Cogress Centre,

Ljubljana, Slovenia

The European Conference "EDUCATION FOR ENERGY – A CHALLENGE FOR SCHOOLS" is being organised as a showcase for educational tools and training methods that can be used to enable primary school teachers integrate the topic of energy into their teaching practices, following the experience of the FEEDU project (Force Energetique pour les Enfants par l'education).

This event will promote the benefits of energy education and energy efficiency in Primary Schools drawing on the experience of speakers engaged in this activity at school, local authority and technical levels. Sessions will provide practical ideas, methods, tools and best practice that will facilitate a debate on the future implications for education legislation and practice.

The program is aimed at a diverse audience that includes all those who provide national, regional or local support for the organization and delivery of educational practices (including teachers). It is also aimed at those who have responsibilities for educational buildings and their energy management. The Conference will be of particular interest to those outside the formal education system who are concerned with the delivery of environmental educational activities.

The conference will be presented in English. Translation services sill be offered for Slovenian, Italian and French speakers.

Objectives

  • To address basic questions about energy efficiency and mobility in schools and to present good practices in the school environment;
  • To introduce highly evaluated educational tools for energy education and demonstrate their practical application to schools;
  • To compliment the above aims by raising the question of how to increase the awareness of the pupils and to integrate energy into education;
  • To present the curriculum links to energy related resources.
