It's a neighbourhood school with a strong participation of the parents.
In terms of mobility, several actions are conducted. Collecting services on bike, rows on foot.
The building is equipped with single and double glazing. The radiators are switched off at the beginning of the holiday. They are equipped with thermostats.
They created "radio-soleil", a radioprogram that gives some good energetic advice during the recreation on Friday.
Energy booklets used to introduce the feedu project into the classrooms.
Description of the action
For the FEEDU-project, the pupils of the 5th and 6th class have taken pictures of each other while they imagined some action permitting them to save energy. They have also created some creative text explaining their gestures, but on a « cute » poetic way so that their message passed with a smile. They made slogans in Dutch and French and have played the « bilingual » game.
Major achievements accomplished by the school/by a class
The children have set up an exhibition to explain what energy is and why we shouldn't waste it.

Floralia School
Presentation of the school
May we present ourselves briefly?
We are the 28 students of the third degree of the primary school Floralia in Brussels.
Our school belongs to the public education. We are a Dutch-speaking school but at home we almost all speak French.
We have worked very hard and motivated to "undertake something for our planet". So this year we have chosen to undertake something about the energy topic. We found a lot of inspiration to work on the FEEDU project.
Description of the action
I undertake action for my planet
After we had acquired the necessary knowledge, it was time to undertake some action.
We have made large « posters charts » with 10 points to which we children can keep easy, to deal more economically with energy. When we launched our campaign, we have hung posters in the school so that everyone, pupils as well as parents, could read the charter.
We tried to urge people to deal with energy in a more responsible way.
In class we took a closer look at our energy charter and together we have chosen an action item that is most obvious to come out with.
The idea of selling low-energy light bulbs came up soon and everyone agreed this was a good idea.
We would buy them and sell them again. But the large aim of our action was to make people aware of dealing more economically with energy. That's why we also made a nice leaflet that was added with the low-energy light bulbs we sold.

Major achievements accomplished by the school/by a class
We were selected with 4 other schools from Flanderswhich have taken part in Kid@bizz, and we could present our project "The Energy Ambassadors".
We received the public award because the message scored best.
The young entrepreneurs had indeed a product and...a clear "message"!
Prince Laurent visited our school to listen to our FEEDU project.
The television press was also present and that allowed us to spread the message of energy savings at Brussels

School of Bléharies
Presentation of the school
The school of Bléharies is a small school, with 130 pupils only. It is a public school, under the town council's authority, in a rural area.
Energy box
Description of the action
The idea was to raise children and parents' awareness, and to combine it with the renovation project of the school building.
1. Raising awareness
With the Feedu tools and an energy activity in an environment centre, the pupils got to know and understand energy issues.
They made a small energy audit at school, checked the electricity counters and the oil consumption. They used IT to compile the data and analyse them.
2. Communicating about energy
The pupils wrote a report on their school's energy consumption, on possible adjustments in the building, and on good energy behaviours. They presented it to their parents and the education deputy mayor responsible for the school.
3. Taking actions
The pupils were involved in the renovation process: they made comments, visited the workings and gave suggestions that were implemented.
Checking the counter
Major achievements accomplished by the school/by a class
The pupils were actively involved in the building's renovation, and they were able to see how things were improved thanks to them. The whole process was extremely rewarding, and gave them a good sense of civil responsibility.

School of Loupoigne
Presentation of the school
Small school in a residential area. Loupoigne is one of six public schools in the town. Fifth and sixth grade are in the same classroom.
Angel play, presentation material and small windmill
Description of the action
Loupoigne followed a multidisciplinary approach to lead to the end product of the project: an energy exhibition at school and during the energy week-end of the town.
The project started with the angel play. Every pupil received one and discovered fundamental energy principles.
The pupils wrote a letter to the deputy mayor to ask for a bicycle rack. They made paintings on energy themes, they built models of all types of energy sources and made group presentations on each of them.
Loupoigne also visited a coal mine and the harbour of Zeebrugge with its near shore windwills.
All those activities led to an exhibition for the whole school and the town, as it was also displayed on Genappe's energy week-end.
And the pupils are really happy to be able to put their bicycles on the brand new bicycle rack that they received in May.
Art work on energy
Visit of Zeebrugge harbour and its windmills
Major achievements accomplished by the school/by a class
The highlight of the year came in June. On the European Wind Day, the Feedu schools of 2006-2007 were invited in the wind farm of Perwez, where they had special activities designed for them (games around wind power). The schools received a diploma from the Walloon Minister of Energy, which stated their achievement with the Feedu project.
The pupils of Loupoigne already knew a lot about energy, and the activities were a great chance to use their knowledge. They felt it was a great honour to receive a diploma for the Minister. A good closure for a very active project.
